Prom and Knitting Devastation

Did you see Lost in Translation with Bill Murray? Well, why not - it's fabulous!

Are we bad parents for re-creating the Suntory Times scene with Drew on Prom day? The white jacket just cracked us up - a'ring-a-ding-ding! Seriously, the senior boys were all very sharp looking in their school-mandated get-ups. The funniest couple was a female German exchange student with a VERY low-cut dress letting the bosoms hang free, escorted by her 22 year old German boyfriend, who was wearing a (gasp!) black tux with sand-colored boat shoes. He was offered a boutonniere by a nervous teacher in an attempt to have him match the other senior escorts, but to no avail. Those crazy 22-year-olds!

Aside from all that titillation, I was deeply enjoying great progress on my Stella pullover (the only online knitting pattern I've ever PAID for). Have I mentioned that I've been working on this since my California trip 2 months ago, and have ripped and restarted it about 10 times?

Look at that lacy pattern with the raglan shoulder - I was almost ready to put the sleeve stitches on waste yarn (whatever that means) and start the eyelet pattern.

Then I noticed something funny - do you see it? How could it possibly be?! I started this per instructions about 8 times knitting back and forth, then decided I'd start it in the round to avoid the big gap. I was SO CAREFUL to be sure the stitches weren't twisted, but DAMMIT - apparently they were.

I haven't frogged it yet - I'm hoping someone can tell me a magical way to make it right....like when you miss a yarnover one row back, and all you do is pick up that bar of thread when you get to it on the next row - something easy like that. This pretty much ruined my whole mood yesterday, so I'll just wait here till I hear some good news...aaaany minute now.....

I sort of feel your pain.....been working on stitching a detailed sampler and discovered I was terribly off. Now gotta yank out thread to fix it. Too disgusted to deal with it right now. :(

Ouch. A froggin' you shall go. There is no magical way to untwist your work.

Your son looks sharp!

Your son looks so GQ debonair. That is a pretty pullover, sorry I can't help with the twisting issue. However, my MO is frog tim gun style.

Junior - I didn't know you made mistakes! That's even more tedious to undo than knitting.

Amy, you were the expert I hoped had an answer - boo!

Sheila, I never think of Tim Gunn when I'm knitting, but that visual may give me some motivation!

Thanks, Robbie! I just found out every school in our 2 counties gets out for Spring Break the same week - are you ready for that? I was going to come to the beach for it, but now I think I want to avoid the area! If I come over we need to have lunch....

It's pretty bad right now! Seems the kids on West Beach have gone wild. The police have even posted warnings on Facebook that they will be patrolling and arresting people. The City,Police and Fire and Rescue have all stated and posted various places that if all you want to do is get drunk and do drugs, you are not welcome in Gulf Shores. Yes, if you do come over we HAVE to get together!

The Facebook post made the news - Lucas was very impressed that somebody was actually replying to all the comments ("Thank you, Robbie"), but then they couldn't keep up - people LOVED that post! Will definitely call you - think maybe end of the week....
