I Stayed Up Till 2:30 AM

Well here are the boys at the Hangout Music Festival - cool sand sculptures, huh? I think what Lucas is showcasing is the fact that Drew is wearing his me-made shorts, though. (Thank you Carol-Marol - who remembers the show?)

The pattern calls for webbing on the cargo pocket flap which I didn't buy, so I looked in Lucas's closet for ideas. Black webbing on a backpack, nah...white webbing on a duffel bag, maybe...then I found this:

It couldn't be more perfect! So here are the almost-finished shorts with a closeup of the pocket (I know you can't see too many details because of the fabric, so I skipped a lot of topstitching I had done on Drew's shorts.)

I'll review these soon - there are only 2 reviews for the shorts on PR, and one of those had the same trouble I did with the waist facing at the fly - so confusing!

So here's my favorite SNL clip from last night - stick with it because when Alec Baldwin comes in it's just hilarious (if you share my odd sense of humor).

A Little SNL

Betty White rocked! She's awesome - just her facial expressions are funny. There were a bunch of good skits and a digital short that they haven't put up yet - I'll keep an eye out.

This is along the lines of "Schwetty balls," for SNL fans. Mildly offensive - no kids allowed!

This one's funny and not offensive at all...I don't think.

Now I'm off to cut out Lucas's shorts...

Productive Saturday!

Okay, first I got a shirt done in about 3 hours last night, which is great for me. I'll review it shortly at patternreview.com, but I've got a lot to do today first.

Next, and more importantly, this was the funniest thing on Saturday Night Live last night. These ESPN skits are always sponsored by a feminine hygiene product and the stuff they come up with is hilarious. After the "crouton" comment, Dean had to get up and leave because he was laughing so hard. We haven't had good belly laughs like that since we watched The Hangover. But if you don't find humor in feminine hygiene jokes, please do NOT watch this...consider yourself warned.

Cougars 2009

We had the annual reunion of the college housemates here at the beach this year - what a blast! Six of us have been getting together for 14 years or so to drink wine, discuss our lives, and go shopping, but this year we went boating and 3 people actually skiied and tubed! (Take that, 42-year-old bones and joints....and then take 800 mg of ibuprofen.) We learned a lot about how active we can still be at 42, but the most important thing the other 5 ladies learned was a little term I picked up from Saturday Night Live. I used it to refer to my pink halter top (see previous post about my ho shirt), and was greeted by 5 people asking: "What's a cougar?"

I think this clip at Hulu says it all - hopefully they'll watch it as it will explain what I was trying to avoid at the restaurant Friday night. Our waiter was about 22 years old and grinning from ear-to-ear as he asked, "Are we partying tonight, ladies?" The implication was there: you chicks are cougars so I got a big tip coming if I play my cards right. Anyway, I'll see if my friends give me permission to post some pictures from our weekend - maybe some action shots of Anne's back spasming or Durema's knee giving out. That reminds me of my mom and Rexie having a ladies' vacation at the beach - they came back with pictures of Rexie with some sort of neck brace on and an ice pack on her head. They said she pulled a muscle, but was that really a hangover?

Of course, now that I'm the same age, I bet it was a cervical disc problem. So sad to fall apart when you still look so good!

New Link for SNL video

This one's currently working, though they cut out some lines and spliced in her real video. Scroll down to see video.
