More Fluevogs!

But first, my first sock is nearly done! I'm in love with these stitches.

And next, look at this precious peplum - this is what I was trying to do with my shirt last week, but didn't have enough fabric. Maybe next time around...(and yes, people at work are very kind to let me snap pics of their clothes - hope they don't think I'm odd!)

So remember my years-long quest to find flats to wear with skirts at work, as I'm funny about open-toed shoes? Well, Fluevog makes a men's shoe that caught my eye, so I ordered a pair. Their customer service rules as usual - a (female) sales associate in the New Orleans store tried on a pair of 8's and 9's to be sure the 8 was the right choice. (I had an idea since I bought a men's shoe in DSW a few years back - heehee.) Remember the San Francisco store sent some candy in the box? Well New Orleans sent a shoe calendar rolled up and tied with a bow - precious! Plus a shoe horn and some stickers.

Sooo...they fit amazingly well and are awesomely comfortable, but maybe not with a red skirt...

or a blue skirt...

or this skirt...

HOWEVER, I'm digging them with pants! And they did come with brown shoelaces, but I think the teal ones are so much happier.

I love them so much that I think I'll have to make a skirt that coordinates color-wise...or make more pants so I can wear them everyday!

So have you ever bought men's shoes, and did you also go down 2 sizes? It'll be so nice to tell people I'm wearing a size 8! And if you find a flat that you love to wear with skirts, please forward me a link, though I'll warn you that I'm not a ballerina flat person, so that knocks out most of my choices. Back to the sock!

Those are simply adorable. I love them and concur with the two sizes down. I wear a lot of Bass Weejuns penny loafers with my skirts, I also have some saddle shoes from Muffys (online). Finally, I have a lot of the Nike Air Cole Hahn wedges (some toe enclosed some open toe) that I wear with my skirts, and that mostly covers my shoe selection. Love the socks!!

That's right - you're a lawyer, so you have to dress up! Love the Bass Weejun idea, and may have to try the Cole Hahn wedges - I've never loved a wedge but I need to broaden my horizons. I checked out Muffy's - they have some cute shoes - there was even a red one that would go with that skirt. Thanks for the tips!

LOVE the shoes!!! And yes, 2 sizes is what I do when wearing men's shoes. I don't wear men's athletic shoes though. For some reason, the arch is in the wrong place, for me anyway.

I'm totally impressed with the sock. WOW!!! Can you do knee socks??? BTW, I really enjoyed lunch last Saturday.

Love the socks! You're making fast progress. The shoes are adorable.
I hate I missed lunch. We ended up taking the kids over to Milton tubing. I was the only one that ended up with sunburn.

Open toed shoes are the best excuse for a pedi that I know of ;)

Robbie, I might go nuts with 2x2 ribbing for knee socks, but maybe I can find a more interesting pattern - definitely could do some though! And I'm just not a huge fan of pedicures, though I do enjoy one every now and then...

Becky, tubing in Milton sounds fun. We almost had a GCGLW (lunch), because Katrina and her family were at Florabama Yacht Club when we were at Doc's - funny! I'm thinking we need a sewing weekend when it's cool enough to sit on the porch without sweating....Fall sounds good! Will have to check college student schedules to be sure you're not missing anything...
